Last night all NFL fans got to see Tim Tebow playing his first NFL preseason game with the Broncos. The toughness and persistent ability that made him famous at the college level were there last night, especially when he put his head down and run for a touchdown by the end of the fourth quarter.
Fans booed when he was called to the football field, showing that Ohioans have no love for the rookie quarterback. “Yeah, I heard it,” Tebow commented. “It got me more excited to go out there and play.” However, it did not intimidate him and he went 8 of 13 for 105 yards in the second half. The final drive finished with Tebow scrambling 7 yards for a touchdown.
The new Denver Broncos quarterback showed he can play under pressure and he can manage the speed of the game, however, he need to improve his decision making. Although he ended without an interception on his start line, there were a couple of occasions when his passes were nearly picked off.
Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer had something to say about Tebow after the football game ended, which pretty much summarizes his first game as a pro: “It was one of those things where you knew he was going to score on the last play of the game, either run it in or throw it in there. He’s such a competitor. I’ve been a big fan of his ever since he started at Florida. He’s one of the greatest college football players.”
