Brett Favre may return to the National Football League, but it depends on the results of the College World Series. While the football star was addressing the Golden Eagles baseball team in Southern Mississippi, his alma mater, he was asked if he would return to the Minnesota Vikings next season, to complete his 20th campaign in the NFL and his answer amazed the crowd.
First, Favre commented that he didn’t know yet if he would return to the NFL, but then he made a proposal. “Let's make a bet,” Favre said. “If you guys go back to the College World Series this year -- I will come back and play. How about that? You go back and I go back.” That was his answer to the question posed by student Justin Diliberto.
The legendary quarterback answered more questions but before he left he talked about the deal again. “Guys, remember the bet,'” he said. “Y'all go back and I go back. I promise, I will be keeping up with you. Good luck.'” Based on his statement it really seems that the future of this superstar may be determined by a college baseball team.
40-year-old Favre is the owner of several records in the NFL including most career TD passes and most career passing yards. After his team, the Minnesota Vikings lost to Super Bowl champion New Orleans during the NFC Championship game, fans and sport reporters have been wondering about the future of the football player, which may now be resolved by his alma mater baseball team.
