Coach Pete Carroll has left South California University to return to the NFL as Seattle Seahawks coach after receiving an offer he couldn’t reject. After several negotiations days, on Monday charismatic Carroll was hired by the Seahawks making him away from the SCU.

‘University gently came to ask me to stay, but my decision was taken because I’m looking for new challenges in competing in the NFL and I found that this opportunity was way too attractive to let it go’, said Carroll in a declaration disclosed by the SCU.

Coach settled an end to one of the most successful careers in college football history with a 97-19 record, two national championships and seven more of the Pacific Ten Conference.

However, he also is leaving a university which is being investigated for illegal practices in its American Football program and has have its worst season (9-4) since the coach arrival at the South California University.

‘This last nine years in the SCU have been the best years of my professional life as a coach’ added Caroll in his announcement. Carroll’s hiring, 58 years old, ended with an intensive weekend for the Seahawks chief executive, Tod Leiweke and a contract for five years and $35 millions. ‘We are really happy of having Carroll as our coach. He brings a great passion to win and his positive attitude is contagious’, said Leiweke in a communiqué.

Carrolls recognized he is very thankful with the SCU because of giving him the opportunity of working with them, but Seahawks offers surprised him. ‘To be honest, I had already given up, this opportunity seams to fall from heaven’, said Carroll.

On Friday team said goodbye to coach Jim Mora after his first season and Leiweke spent Sunday finishing the contract with Caroll who has 6-10 record on 1994 with New York Jets. After that he has a 27-21 balance, at the time he got to the playoffs in two opportunities, in the 1997 and 1999 campaigns with New England Patriots.
