The doping allegations against ex-triple American Olympic champion Marion Jones have been discarded after the sprinter’s B Sample turned out negative. In June, Jone’s initial sample had tested positive for erythropoietin (EPO) an endurance enhancer. The new findings mean the previous results cannot be taken as a proof and will be thrown out.
“I am absolutely ecstatic. I have always maintained that I have never ever taken performance enhancing drugs, and I am pleased that a scientific process has now demonstrated that fact”, Jones said in a statement.
Jones tested positive for the drug after winning the 100 meters at U.S. Nationals. The next day, she announced she would not take part in the 200 meters race. In August, Jones was registered to run in Switzerland but withdrew a few hours before the results of her A Sample were revealed.
“I am anxious to get back on the track,” Jones finished.
