The ITF (International Tennis Federation) will inspect the Orfeo Stadium in Cordoba, Argentina, again and visit the Polideportivo in Mar del Plata before deciding the city and the stadium that will host the Davis Cup finals to be played by Argentina and Spain.

The AAT (Argentina Tennis Association) officially proposed Cordoba yesterday, but in the last few hours it has been clear that Mar del Plata, a city in the Buenos Aires province with coasts on the Atlantic Ocean, has not been discarded. The finals will take place in less than 50 days.

The inspectors of the international association, who visited Cordoba and are doubtful about the venue, will travel to Argentina in the next few days, as announced this week by Neil Robinson, of the ITF press office.

Apparently, the decision to enlarge the Orfeo from 9,000 seats to 12,000 seats has not convinced the ITF, which intends to visit the Polideportivo Malvinas Argentinas in Mar del Plata, built in 1995. Argentinean player David Nalbandian suggested a synthetic court instead of clay for the finals, that is the Orfeo, during the semifinal between Argentina and Russia.

Daniel Scioli, governor of the Buenos Aires Province, put forward the idea of the Mar del Plata Stadium, with the support of President Cristina Kirchner.
