Quarterback Brett Favre made his debut in the 2010 NFL season with the Minnesota Vikings during a preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers at Candlestick Park in San Francisco. The 49ers welcomed Favre stopping him during the second play of the Viking offense in a play in which Favre ended hit.
With the 49ers determined to stop Favre and the Vikings, middle linebacker Pat Willis hit Favre straight on and made him fall backwards onto the turf. The hit was similar to the one the quarterback took from Kansas City linebacker Corey Mays during his first preseason game in 2009. However, Favre commented that last year’s hit was cleaner and a lot of fun.
The 40-year-old quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings went out to the football field only four days after his first training camp practice of the year. Brett Favre decided to return for a 20th NFL season and have another chance at winning a Super Bowl title. “There’s no substitute for getting in a game, calling plays, having a 40-second clock that you have to pay attention to,” Favre commented.
Favre was replaced by Tarvaris Jackson, who was expected to be the starter before Favre came back to the Vikings. During the second half he was seen laughing on the sideline, featuring a 5-o’clock shadow peppered with gray. No big conclusions can be made from his few minutes on the field, but it doesn’t matter to the Minnesota Vikings at this time, because they are thrilled to have him back.
